Hilton's Hampton Inn chain officially launched the addition of personal waffle makers at breakfast buffets in all its nearly 1,800 U.S. hotels.

To celebrate, the chain enlisted Food Network star Chef Guy Fieri to help serve up thousands of free waffles in New York's Herald Square. Thirty other waffle makers and Fieri's 13-year-old son, Hunter, were also put to work for the "Wake up with Waffles" event.

With research repeatedly showing breakfast is a meal you shouldn't skip, Fieri said, "As a father and a chef, waking up to a good breakfast has always been important to me and my family."

In addition to the hot, make-your-own waffles, the complimentary Hampton Inn breakfast buffets also include cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit and a rotating menu of hot items – such as pancakes, sausage patties, biscuits and gravy and eggs.

"We understand the importance of breakfast and are committed to starting our guests' mornings off on the right foot with a variety of free breakfast options," said Kurt Smith, a product vice president for Hilton Worldwide.
