Hit a Housing Homerun: DiMaggio's SF Home

It's not easy being a celebrity. There are all those paparazzi to contend with, not to mention the lack of job security. It's better to avoid the whole deal of being a celebrity and just find a way to live like one.

That's right, you can live in a celebrity's former home. They're all around us, you just have to know where to look.

This Week: Joe DiMaggio's former pad!

He was nicknamed the Yankee Clipper for his impressive 56-game hitting streak, and was also known as Mr. Marilyn Monroe. Though DiMaggio was famous for playing baseball for the New York Yankees in the 1940's, he was from foggy San Francisco and grew up in North Beach, known for its Italian enclave.

In the 1980's DiMaggio lived at the seemingly modest 2150 Beach Street (left), just steps from the city's giant Presidio green space.
He didn't live here during his Monroe era or his baseball rein, but those were overrated anyway. Instead this is where he lived while filming his legendary Mr. Coffee commercials. Yes, this was the house DiMaggio lived in during his TV spokesman glory days!

According to TheSan Francisco Gate

The 2,593-square-foot home was built in 1937, according to county property records, and is just a block from Marina Green and roughly a 10-minute walk to Chestnut Street. The three-story is one of the few on the block that isn't divided into a two-flat.

Now it's your turn to live in the home of the man who was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1955. The price isn't listed in the article, but two nearby apartments are asking for a cool $1.098 million and $2.195 million.

So while you don't need to be famous to live here, you will need to be rich.
