Stocks poised to open higher after Alcoa beats expectations

U.S. stocks are set to climb at the open Thursday morning, after aluminum giant Alcoa (AA) reported better-than-expected results late Wednesday. Investors hoped this was a sign of what's to come in the third quarter earnings season and that once again many companies will beat expectations when reporting earnings.
