Small is the new big. It's evident everywhere these days, from cars (compact) to desserts (cupcakes) to spending habits (credit crunch). So why not bring the trend into your home with a miniature-themed dinner party?

Gather up a group of friends and lay out a small-but-mighty spread of scaled-down versions of some classic foods. A few to try:
  • Cheeseburger Sliders from your grocer's deli (look for them with the other fresh, packaged appetizers)
  • Mini Pigs-in-Blankets
  • (Frozen) Mini-Quiche
  • Spinach-Feta Phyllo Cups
  • Baby Veggies with Dip
  • 1-Bite Brownie Sundaes: put one "1-bite brownie" (available in most grocery stores' bakery section) into a small dish or ramekin, microwave for 10 seconds, top with aerosol whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate syrup.

And it wouldn't be a Party Girl party without some libations, so why not whip up a few rounds of miniature cocktails, a.k.a. shooters?

A bit morbid perhaps, but this would be a killer theme party to throw for a friend who's just been ... wait for it ... downsized. Hey, we all need to look for a laugh in this economy!
