Just in time for Earth Day: Recycle your nail polish

Before you go, we thought you'd like these...

I'm probably not the person to write about this, in that I know nothing about nail polish. That said, I'll admit to wearing some once, a couple years ago when I agreed to let my then-five-year-old daughter paint my nails. My wife, who thought this was hilarious, then hid the nail polish remover from me, which became really embarrassing when I forgot about it and drove off to run an errand at the bank. But that's another story.

Anyway, a female friend of mine mentioned that a brand of nail polish called Zoya is offering a nail polish exchange for "a limited time." If you have any old bottles of nail polish -- and it doesn't matter what brand or if it's been used as long as it isn't Zoya -- you can send it in, and the company will "properly dispose of your old polish according to EPA guidelines" and will send you a replacement.
Zoya has more than 300 colors, and they boast that their polish is free of dibutyl phthalate. (Wait here, while I go look that up.) Oh, okay, I'd brag about that, too. Apparently it's a plastic additive that's used in a lot of cosmetics and is banned in Europe.

Obviously, since you have to give them all of your information, it's a nice way for them to hook you as a potential lifelong customer, but if you're in the market for some free nail polish, maybe you won't care.

(P.S. I had no idea how prophetic my introduction -- "I'm probably not the person to write this" -- would become. Take a look at the warning from the first person to comment. Thanks, Michelle. I agree, that this isn't quite the deal I thought it was.)
