Yo quiero $42 million!: Taco Bell ordered to pay Chihuahua's creators
Tom Rinks and Joe Shields of Michigan told a jury there in 2003 that they weren't properly paid for creating the Taco Bell chihuahua made famous by a $500 million ad campaign in the 1990s. They won, but Taco Bell went on to blame ad agency TBWA Chiat/Day for failing to pay Rinks and Shields, suing the agency to pay the $42 million owed.
On Friday, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower court's ruling, and now Taco Bell is being forced to pay up.
