Craig's List- the world's yard sale

On the hunt for used furniture, a temp job, or a roommate? Quit looking in the local newspaper classifieds- the world has moved to Craig's List.

Craig'sList.org is an online bulletin board/job board/barter-and-sell site that has grown to the seventh most visited web site on the internet, with over 9 billion page views per month. Started as a hobby by a San Francisco geek, the site now covers 450 cities worldwide.

I used Craig's list to search for used items; I'm hunting for a reading chair at the moment. The people posting chairs for sale on the intentionally-primitive-looking board are a mix of private individuals and dealers. There are also those who offer to transport my treasure home, for a price. Other categories of sale goods include clothes, electronics, computers, cars, boats and many more.

CL is also a hot source for temp jobs such as dressing up like a fuzzy animal and luring customers into a fast food restaurant. Unfortunately, this part of the site seems to attract a good number of fraudulent offers, too.

Like any flea market, the buyer has to take responsibility for dodging scams. If you're willing to do your homework, you might save a healthy chunk of change by shopping Craig's List.
