Arrowwood Road in Columbia to be closed for I-26 improvement

Parts of Arrowwood Road will be closed from Jan. 9 to Jan. 30 for utility work and bridge construction.

Starting at 7 a.m. Monday, Arrowwood will be closed and drivers will be detoured from the intersection of Lawand Drive to the intersection of Gracern Road, according to a statement released Friday by the South Carolina Department of Transportation.

The closure is part of the Carolina Crossroads Phase 1 project in Richland and Lexington Counties.

The project includes widening parts of the interstate in Lexington County and improvements to the exit ramp to U.S. 378 from I-26 eastbound in Lexington County. It also includes construction of a full access interchange at Colonial Life Boulevard at I-126 in Richland County.

“The purpose of this project is to provide traffic access to and from I-26 and I-126 to Colonial Life Blvd., allowing for closure of the existing on and off ramps that access I-26 from Bush River Road,” according to the statement released by SCDOT.

The road will be closed to allow contractors to perform utility work and bridge construction. The road is scheduled to reopen by 7 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30.
