Look inside Arlington’s posh new restaurant and lounge, and here’s where to park

A spectacular new restaurant and bar is open in Arlington, and a smaller sidekick is coming soon.

The new restaurant above Choctaw Stadium, Hearsay, opened last weekend to sold-out reservations and crowds anxious to see a multi-million-dollar restaurant in the 10,000-square-foot former Front Row Grill, 1711 E. Randol Mill Road.

Hearsay is opening with a limited menu of steaks, seafood, lunch and brunch, but it will eventually serve a long list of choices for lunch and dinner daily, including late night hours.

It’s a partnership among Mayor Jim Ross, the neighboring Texas Rangers and Dallas-based Champions Club Texas, a spinoff from a California company that operates private-membership gaming and entertainment clubs.

Hearsay is billed as a “speakeasy-style” bar and lounge, but it’s a speakeasy on steroids, with a giant jazz nightclub along with a steakhouse offering full window views of Globe Life Field across Randol Mill Road.

It looks absolutely nothing like the old ballpark restaurant, which closed 20 years ago and gave way to a buffet for the stadium’s Home Run Porch section.

When the elevator opens to Hearsay, your eyes will have to adjust to the dark entryway.

Even after they adjust, you won’t believe what you see.

The lounge is plush and decorated in deep, rich colors. There’s a cigar bar and patio overlooking the field.

The actual dining room is brighter and faces Globe Life across Randol Mill. Only the patios offer a view of Choctaw, the old Rangers ballpark that is now home to the pro football Arlington Renegades of the XFL.

Ross also owns Mercury Chophouse Arlington, a prime steakhouse overlooking the entertainment district from a top floor at 2221 E. Lamar Blvd.

in an earlier Star-Telegram interview, he said: “We need that type of place in Arlington where people can go and really enjoy themselves and have an upscale time with fine dining, a real nice band and all those types of things.”

One catch: Parking is free in the lots across Randol Mill Road — unless there’s a game.

Zack’s Bistro to open

Also coming near Globe Life and AT&T Stadium: a wine bistro with steaks from a former partner in Mercury Chophouse Arlington.

Zack’s Bistro will open in a strip shopping center on the corner of North Collins Street and East Copeland Road (Interstate 30).

It’s owned by Chophouse Fort Worth and Keller operator Zack Moutaouakil, a co-founder with Ross of the Arlington Mercury.

Zack’s will have lunch specials such as meatloaf or chicken-fried steak and a “mini-Chophouse” menu at night, he said.

The location has been home to several small restaurants.

Zack’s will open by April, Moutaouakil said; zackbistro.com
