How Arch Manning's college debut compared to uncles Eli and Peyton Manning

During the final regular-season game of his freshman year, Arch Manning stepped onto the field for the first time in a Texas uniform. The highly anticipated debut was low stakes in a 57-7 blowout win for Texas against Texas Tech, but the fans at Royal-Memorial Stadium were enthusiastic nonetheless.

The nephew of NFL greats Eli and Peyton Manning, Arch's uncle both made their respective college debuts more than 20 years ago. Eli attended Ole Miss like his father Archie, and Peyton, played at Tennessee.

Arch Manning's stats in opening game as Texas QB

Entering the game in the third quarter, Arch Manning completed 2-of-5 passes for 30 yards. He also carried the ball three times for seven yards. That's more yardage than both of his uncles had in their respective college debuts.

Eli Manning threw one complete pass in first college football game

Unlike his nephew, Eli stepped behind the pocket in his team's opening game of the season against Tulane as a freshman in 2000. He completed one pass on five attempts for five yards in the 49-20 win for Ole Miss.

Peyton Manning debuted as backup and became starting QB in following game

Following an injury to starter Jerry Colquit in Tennessee's season opener against UCLA in 1994, backup quarterback and former MLB player Todd Helton took the starting role.

Facing a blowout loss against Florida in their third game of the season, Peyton Manning, a red-shirt freshman, completed 3-of-5 passes for 27 yards.
