While we don't want summer to end, we'd be lying if we said we aren't basking in the glow of this year's Labor Day sales. Holiday weekends (like Labor Day) are a great chance to pick up new Apple devices, which rarely go on sale outside of Black Friday. Whether you're hoping to score on a new pair of AirPods Pro or thinking about getting an Apple Watch to keep up healthy habits once the weather cools down, there are Apple Labor Day sales happening this weekend that you don't want to miss.
MacBooks are seeing some of the most impressive discounts. The 2020 MacBook Air is currently at the lowest price we've ever seen, dropping to $750. Also, the new 2023 15.3-inch MacBook Air is on sale — and discounts on the most recent Apple releases almost never happen. For headphones, the AirPods Max are $100 off in all five colors.
Since Apple doesn't have their own sales, we found the best deals running at other major retailers, like Amazon and Walmart. These deals will likely end by next week, so you'll want to find time to shop before the holiday weekend is through.
AirPods Max
AirPods Max are the cream of the crop when it comes to Apple headphones. They come with Active Noise Cancellation, Adaptive Transparency Mode, spatial audio with dynamic head tracking, memory foam on the ear cushions, on-head detection, and a 20-hour battery life.
AirPods Pro (2nd Generation)
The Pro model of Apple's earbud lineup offers Active Noise Cancellation, Adaptive Transparency Mode, and rubberized tips for a somewhat custom fit (there are three different sizes to choose from). When paired with the charging case, you'll get up to 3o hours of listening and call time.
AirPods (2nd Generation)
If you're working with a tighter budget, or if you're just looking for a solid pair of earbuds minus all of the tech specs, Apple's classic AirPods get the job done. The wireless earbuds come with a charging case to keep your headphones juiced up on the go.
Watch Series 8 (GPS, 41mm)
The Apple Watch is more than just a fitness tracker — it's a full fledged smartwatch. The wearable features activity tracking, a blood oxygen monitor, temperature sensing and sleep and heart rate monitors, just to highlight a few of the latest specs introduced with the more recent models (the Series 8 is one of the latest). You'll have to keep your phone close by to receive calls and texts to the watch since the on-sale model doesn't offer cellular connectivity, but you'll have access to the GPS at all times.
Watch SE (1st Generation) (GPS, 40mm)
While it doesn't have all the latest specs, the Watch SE (1st Gen) is the most affordable Apple Watch on the market, especially at this sale price. The watch has all of the essential features, like activity tracking, a heart rate monitor, Emergency SOS and water resistance. The SE is on sale at Walmart in all three colors for the same price.
iPad (9th Generation) (256GB)
10 hours of battery life, a 10.2-inch Retina display, and the long lost home button, the 9th generation iPad is exactly what you'd expect.
iPad Air (5th Generation) (64GB, WiFi)
Weighing in at just one pound, the iPad Air is a great tablet for commuters and travelers. It's ultra-slim, lightweight enough that you'll barely notice it in your bag, and packs a tech punch thanks to Apple's M1 chip (the same as some MacBooks). It has up to 10 hours of battery life and a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display.
iPad Mini (6th Generation) (WiFi, 64GB)
An even smaller option for those who want a tablet that's easy to take on the go, the iPad Mini weighs less than a pound, has an 8.3 inch Liquid Retina screen and an up to 10 hour battery life. All colors are $100 off.
2020 MacBook Air (256GB)
Finding a MacBook for under $1K is a feat in and of itself, so we're pretty stoked to see the MacBook Air down to $750 right now. The laptop weighs less than 3 pounds (2.8 pounds, to be exact), has Apple's M1 chip, an up to 18-hour battery life, and features fast processing for a seamless experience.
16-inch 2021 MacBook Pro (1TB)
The steepest discount at the moment for any MacBook, the 16-inch MacBook Pro is a whopping $600 off. In true MacBook Pro fashion, this powerful computer is able to run high-intensity programs like video editing apps and games for hours without overheating, thanks to the laptop's built-in cooling system. The 1TB of memory means you won't have to worry about running out of storage while the up to 21 hour battery life gets you through a full day of use.
15.3-inch 2023 MacBook Air (256GB)
Apple released the first MacBook Air with a 15-inch screen back in June, giving the lightweight laptop its first-ever size upgrade. Recently, the price has dropped around the $100-$200 off range. The computer weighs just 3.3 pounds so it's still commuter-friendly, but has a screen size comparable of that to Pro models.
14.2-inch 2023 MacBook Pro (512GB)
This is Apple's latest update to the MacBook Pro, which was also released earlier this year. The laptop features Apple's brand new-and-improved M2 Pro chip for ultra-fast performance. It has an 18-hour battery life and a solid 512GB of local storage.
When is Labor Day 2023?
Labor Day lands on the first Monday of September, meaning Labor Day 2023 falls on September 4. The three-day weekend typically brings major sales to shop while you're taking some time off work. Heading into Labor Day weekend, many sale prices are matching the deals we saw over Memorial Day.
Does Apple do Labor Day deals?
As a brand, Apple simply does not do sales. However, major retailers like Amazon and Walmart tend to include Apple in their Labor Day sales, which is where we found these discounts. Both Amazon and Walmart are verified Apple sellers, so as long as your order is being fulfilled by the retailer itself versus a third party seller, you can rest assured you'll receive an authentic Apple device that's exactly the same as the one you'd purchase from Apple directly.
