Our favorite co-anchors, Alex and Bradley, are making another comeback in The Morning Show season 4, and we can't wait to see what's in store for these two.

Even before the season three premiere, Apple TV+ announced that the popular series was renewed for another installment. Although both Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon’s contracts were supposed to end after season three, Apple is now in talks with the co-stars as they work on the upcoming season, according to Deadline.

While speaking with Variety about the show's impact, Witherspoon said, "It’s creating adult conversations about issues that we’re dealing with every day in real-time in our workplace environments and in our personal lives, so it helps us process. It mirrors a lot of what’s going on in the world, and life is complicated."

Fortunately for us, Apple TV+ is already teasing what’s to come in the next season—and something tells us there will be no shortage of drama. Keep scrolling for details about The Morning Show season four, including the plot, cast, release date and more.

In April 2023, Apple TV+ announced, via Deadline, that The Morning Show is returning for season four. The exciting news came five months before the season three premiere in September.

2. What Is The Morning Show About?

The story follows Mitch Kessler (Steve Carell), a seasoned TV anchor who’s fired after sexual allegations are filed against him. The problem? His friend and former lover, Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston), is his co-host, and she’s less than thrilled about his absence. And when the network brings in a young new reporter named Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon), she’s forced to fight for her role as lead anchor.

According to executive producer Lauren Neustadter, strong female characters are a recurring theme on the show. She told Forbes, “I think these relationships are so beautifully drawn. They show up for each other in unexpected ways. I don’t think there are a lot of shows on television where you are watching these kinds of riveting, complex dynamics between female characters, and that’s just something that I think is so extraordinary about this show.”

3. What Is the Plot for The Morning Show Season 4?

Plot details for season four haven't been revealed, but we can piece together a few clues, based on cast interviews.

For one, given the two-year gap between seasons two and three, it's likely that fans will see another big-time jump in season four. When asked about the upcoming season, Witherspoon told Variety, "I think so, just because it takes us so long. They write for so long and have brand new storylines that are happening. I think we’re a little behind in time, too."

Aniston added, "Our show tends to mirror what is actually happening in the world." And Witherspoon responded, "Yeah, so as things come up while they’re writing, they’ll put them into the story."

As for what will happen to Bradley, who turned herself in to the FBI, Witherspoon told Deadline during a press conference, “Everybody keeps asking me if Bradley’s in jail, but I don’t know if I’m in trouble.”

She continued, “I think so many people can relate to the idea that you have a family history that maybe isn’t flattering or that you’re embarrassed about, or there’s a family member in your life that’s trying to actively drag you down. So, it was just really tender to play this woman who wanted so badly to succeed and excel, being pulled back down by the heavy weight of family obligations and her isolation.”

Regarding Alex's next steps and the merger between UBA and NBN, Aniston said, "It’s watching this big move that Alex made at the end of Season three and how’s that working out for you? That position and that huge merge happening, and to see how gracefully that she walks through that.”

Witherspoon also told Variety what she'd like to see more of in season four. She said, "I think it would be great to do something with AI and the veracity of news when things can be so easily manufactured. It’s really a strange time for journalism, and it just continues to evolve."

4. Who’s In the Cast of The Morning Show Season 4?

Apple TV+ hasn’t confirmed who will return for season four, but it’s safe to say that Aniston and Witherspoon will reprise their roles. Other expected returnees include Billy Crudup (Cory Ellison), Julianna Margulies (Laura Peterson), Greta Lee (Stella Bak), Desean Terry (Daniel Henderson), Mark Duplass (Charlie Black, aka Chip), Nestor Carbonell (Yanko Flores), Karen Pittman (Mia Jordan) and Ruairi O'Connor (Ty Fitzgerald).

Season three featured a few new faces, like Jon Hamm (Paul Marks), Tig Notaro (Amanda Robinson) and Nicole Beharie (Christina Hunter). So, it's likely that season four will also include a few new cast members.

5. When Will The Morning Show Season 4 Premiere?

Apple TV+ hasn't confirmed the premiere date for season four, likely due to delays caused by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. However, if production picks up by the end of 2023, fans may get new episodes early in 2025.

According to Deadline, executive producer Michael Ellenberg revealed that “it’s too early” for solid season four details, but we'll keep our eyes open.
