APD: Man dies after rollover crash near train tracks on N. Eastern Sunday

A 55-year-old man died after he was ejected in single-vehicle rollover crash on Sunday afternoon on North Eastern in Amarillo.

According to the Amarillo Police Department (APD), at about 2:49 p.m. Sunday, April 28, Amarillo officers went to the site of a single-vehicle rollover crash in the 3300 block of North Eastern. APD said a maroon SUV was travelling south on Eastern when the SUV came over the railroad tracks in the 3300 block of North Eastern and lost control.

The SUV rolled several times, and the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected.

Javier Maldonado-Hago, 55, was taken to the Northwest Texas hospital, where he was declared dead. His family has been notified. APD said Judge Taylor was contacted but did not respond to the scene.

The incident is being investigated by APD's Traffic Investigation unit.
