APD: Amarillo police's CIRT team on scene at N. Roosevelt with barricaded person

The Amarillo Police Department (APD) is asking the public to avoid the area where a SWAT response is underway in east Amarillo.

APD sent out a notice early Wednesday evening that the Amarillo PD Critical Incident Response Team is on the scene of a barricaded person in the 1200 block of North Roosevelt. APD said the area is contained, and SWAT and police negotiators are working to get the person to come out of the residence.

"We ask citizens to stay clear of the area until this incident is resolved," APD said. The situation was still active, and no further information was yet available.
