Kansas junior forward Jalen Wilson is the unanimous choice as the Associated Press Big 12 Player of the Year, the AP announced Tuesday.

Wilson joined Kansas State’s Keyontae Johnson as the only unanimous first-team all-league picks in the selections revealed Tuesday.

K-State’s Markquis Nowell also earned first-team all-league honors in a vote of 17 journalists who cover the league.

The other two first team picks: Marcus Carr, Texas, and Adam Flagler, Baylor.

KU’s Gradey Dick and Kevin McCullar were named second-team all-league, along with TCU’s Mike Miles and Damion Baugh and Baylor’s Keyonte George.

Kansas State’s Jerome Tang was named Coach of the Year and K-State’s Johnson Newcomer of the Year. Johnson received 13 of the 17 votes for newcomer of the year, while Baylor’s George received the other four.

Tang directed the Wildcats to a 23-8 record in the regular season and third place in the Big 12 standings after being picked to finish last in a preseason poll of league coaches.

Wilson, a 6-foot-8 junior forward, led the Big 12 in scoring with 19.7 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.

Tang was the overwhelming choice for top coach with 15 votes. Two votes went to Texas interim coach Rodney Terry, who took over for Chris Beard early in the season.
