AOC denounces Rep. Lauren Boebert’s comments that gun laws wouldn’t stop ‘evil’ shooters

AOC isn’t buying the “can’t outlaw evil” excuse for America’s epidemic of gun violence.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) denounced pro-gun Rep. Lauren Boebert on Wednesday for suggesting that gun laws wouldn’t prevent mass shootings like the bloody school massacre in Uvalde, Texas.

“Why even be in Congress if you don’t believe in doing your job?” AOC tweeted. “Just quit and let someone who actually gives a damn do it.”

The progressive firebrand was responding to Boebert’s tweet that “you cannot legislate away evil.” AOC accused the outspoken supporter of former President Trump of “acting like a useless piece of furniture” instead of acting against gun violence.

“Babies are shot with AR15s (because) we let teen boys impulse buy before they can legally have a beer,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted, naming the model of weapon that has been used in many recent mass shootings.

Boebert is an ardent supporter of gun rights. She made headlines last year for posing for a Christmas photo with her family, including her young sons, brandishing semi-automatic weapons.
