"The resident was less than excited about the intrusion," according to the post on the Middletown Township Police Facebook page.

The post did not name the defendant or provide other identifying information including gender. But it definitely looks big in the photos posted online.

One person posted it appears to be a corn snake, a harmless variety of serpent.

"This guy is pretty fancy morph by the looks of it so he was/is definitely someone's pet," the person wrote.

Pet or not, Middletown Police are not looking to adopt him/her/it.

"Let us know if it belongs to you, cause there is ZERO chance we want to keep it around any longer than necessary."

If the responses to the post are any indication, police might have difficulty finding the owner.

"Nope. Dead on site!" wrote one person

"Nope. Would have grabbed the machete!" wrote another person

"Please take this thing to the SPCA or zoo. It doesn't belong where it has gotten loose. If that was in my house it would be dead."

"I would have loved to hear that call come in and go out."

It was not immediately clear Thursday if the snake would be face burglary, trespassing or any other criminal charges. But police assured they'll release the defendant on his own recognizance.
