Anya Taylor-Joy’s Red-Hot Leather Minidress Will Get Your Blood Pumping

When it comes to the Furiosa press tour, Anya Taylor-Joy clearly has a thing for a well-constructed dress. Whether that means traipsing down Hollywood Boulevard in a cinched black leather minidress from Acne Studios or posing on the roof of Mexico City’s St. Regis Hotel in a literal metal cast dress from Balmain, the actor knows how to deliver a knockout statement dress every time.
She did just that once again on Wednesday in New York City, when she stepped out wearing a blood-red piece from Mugler’s Fall/Winter 2024 ready-to-wear runway. The minidress was a master class in sculptural draping, with the material being pulled taut and twisting around her curves and bust, forming a textured asymmetrical neckline and sleeves.
But, the real showstopper appeared on the back of the dress.
When she turned, Taylor-Joy revealed a titillating lace-up detail composed of a stack of thin black leather straps, starting from midway down the wide expanse of her back and narrowing cheekily down to the edge of her backside.
She coordinated the look with more red elements—from suede Christian Louboutin pumps to a bright red lip, and then rounded it off with some silver jewelry, like a metallic Tiffany & Co. x Elsa Peretti cuff bracelet.
Much of Taylor-Joy’s Furiosa press tour wardrobe connects with the titular role she plays in the Mad Max: Fury Road prequel.
“The most beautiful and heartbreaking thing about Furiosa is that she’s the embodiment of impossible hope—living in a world where everything is a violation to you,” she recently told Elle. “The air that you breathe, the lack of food, the fact that empathy is punished, that trust is punished. And throughout it all, she just has this relentless conviction that she’s going to make good on that promise she made. I still get chills thinking about it.”
