Ant-Man 3 confirms digital release - and it's very soon

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has confirmed both its digital and physical home video release date.

The latest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was released in cinemas less than two months ago, but fans won’t have to wait long to get their hands on the superhero film.

The third film in the Ant-Man series will be available to buy or rent digitally on April 18, with its physical release on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD coming on May 22.

The physical release will come with over two hours of bonus content, including a gag reel, audio commentary and a pair of featurettes.

The film, which was directed by Peyton Reed, struggled both commercially and critically, grossing just $473 million and securing a series-low 47% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Screenwriter Jeff Loveness, who is also due to pen the script for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, recently revealed he was left “despondent” by the reception to the film, saying: “To be honest, those reviews took me by surprise. I was in a pretty low spot - those were not good reviews,” he said.

“[However] I’m really proud of what I wrote for Jonathan [Majors, who plays villain Kang the Conqueror] and Michelle Pfeiffer [scientist Janet van Dyne],” he continued. “I thought that was good stuff, you know? And so I was just despondent, and I was really sad about it.”

Despite the mixed reception, lead star Paul Rudd revealed he was still excited to kickstart Phase Five of the MCU, with the road leading to a huge battle against Kang.

“It's pretty cool that Ant Man's the one that's going to face off against Kang and kickstart this thing,” Rudd exclusively told Digital Spy. “It was very exciting to know that we were the ones chosen to introduce this guy and I know how big of a part he's going to play moving forward.”

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is in cinemas now. It will be released on digital formats on April 18; the physical edition will be released on May 22.
