Another Wawa is on the way. What to know about two openings in Hollywood

Wawa now has Hollywood covered.

As customers await the summer opening of the city’s first Wawa, on U.S. 1 between Hollywood Boulevard and Sheridan Street, another Wawa is rising on the city’s west side.

The gas-hoagie place is under construction on State Road 7 at Hollywood Boulevard, taking the place of a demolished strip center just like the one on the east side. The company says the city’s second Wawa is scheduled to open in the fall.

“All the Wawa lovers out there will like seeing the quick progress of the new Wawa on State Road 7 and Hollywood Boulevard. The one on Federal Highway and Harding is almost done and will open soon, too,” Hollywood Mayor Josh Levy said on Facebook.

“We’re always expanding to bring more of our quality and convenience to more people,” Wawa says about the new locations.

Here’s what to know about the two Hollywood locations:

Wawa rising in Hollywood

East side: 1851 N. Federal Hwy., next to South Broward Senior High, opening June.

West side: 106 S. State Road 7, just east of Florida’s Turnpike, opening this fall.

What’s inside a Wawa?

Wawa stores look like other gas station convenience stores, including prepared salads and wrap, but with a few exceptions:

▪ Coffee: Lots of self-serve choices, including hazlenut and Cuban roast, line the counter. At the self-serve coffee prep station, customers can splash in regular milk, almond milk or flavored creamers. And most Wawa locations have a barista making fancy-schmancy coffee drinks.

▪ Electronic ordering: Several self-serve electronic kiosks allow customers to order breakfast bowls and sandwiches, cold or hot hoagies, several soups of the day, sides including mashed potatoes and rice and beans. The dinner menu includes crispy chicken sandwiches.

▪ Food counter: A crew behind an open counter prepares sandwiches and sides to order, where customers pick up their food once they pay at the cashier near the doors.
