Another Home Goods Retailer Is Closing Down All of Its Locations

Conn’s HomePlus regulars, you'll need to start looking for another home goods store in your city.

The 134-year-old retailer, and seller of furniture, appliances and tech, has announced that it will be closing all of its 174 locations across 15 states. The news comes after the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy earlier in July.

Simultaneously, its sister company Badcock&More, which Conn’s Inc. acquired in December of last year, will also move forward with store closures. That brings the total of store closures to more than 500.

“Conn’s and Badcock have served as a go-to destination for its loyal customers’ home goods necessities for more than a century,” said Tim Shilling, president of B. Riley Retail Solutions, which is hosting the liquidation, according to FurnitureToday. “This sale is an opportunity for shoppers to purchase a wide array of quality furnishings for every room in the home, including brand name appliances and electronics at unprecedented discounts. Inventory will be available for a limited time only – everything must go.”

Conn’s HomePlus isn’t the first retailer to face this fate this year. In fact, in light of recent declines of in-person shopping, several major retailers have begun to feel the pressures of shifting consumer habits. Last month, clothing retailer Bob's Stores closed for good, and, just last year, Rite Aid filed for bankruptcy. Macy's and Family Dollar have also announced they are shutting down certain locations.

Sales for both Conn’s HomePlus and Badcock&More are happening in-store and online, with deals as high as 50% off.

Good Houskeeeping reached out to the company for comment, but hasn't heard back.
