Another fire breaks out in Beirut a month after devastating explosion

Another fire struck Beirut on Tuesday, weeks after a horrific explosion devastated the city.

The latest blaze broke out at a downtown building that was under construction near the port where the explosion that killed at least 190 people occurred last month.

No injuries have been reported from Tuesday’s fire, which has since been put out, according to a Civil Defense official.

Images from the scene Tuesday show firefighters working to combat the blaze at the building, which was designed by architect Zaha Hadid.

There have now been three fires within that area of the city in Lebanon in the past week. One of the others, which broke out last Thursday, was a massive inferno at a warehouse facility in the Port of Beirut.

Officials have not released the causes of the fires.

The fires have come during a time when residents of Beirut continue to reel from the deadly Aug. 4 explosion at the port that left more than 6,000 people injured and displaced many from their homes.

The blast caused billions of dollars of damage, and slews of structures in the city were destroyed.

Authorities continue to investigate what caused the incident in which a significant quantity of ammonium nitrate exploded.
