Another Falwell departs Liberty University

Just eight months after his father resigned in disgrace from Liberty University, former university president Jerry Falwell Jr.’s son, Trey, vacated his position as vice president of university operations.

Liberty University spokesperson Scott Lamb confirmed the news to Politico saying that Trey Falwell was, “no longer employed by the university.” Lamb also went on to say that Falwell’s departure happened “this week” but did not disclose any other details surrounding his abrupt exit.

This news comes as the private Christian school located in Lynchburg, Va., continues to attempt to distance themselves from Falwell Jr. following allegations of a multiyear sexual relationship with a business associate that forced him to resign in August 2020.

Despite his public ouster, Falwell Jr. has still been seen on the university’s campus greeting students.

“The employees and the board have been nothing but supportive, 100 percent,” Falwell said in an interview with Politico. “The students all want to get their picture with me. They thank me.”

A few days ago, the university announced that Falwell Jr.’s brother Jonathan, would be replacing David Nasser as the campus pastor at the conclusion of the spring semester.

Other members of the Falwell family are also employed by Liberty, but school officials declined to comment on their employment saying that they “do not answer questions about personnel.”
