Anne Hathaway knows a thing or two about making a statement through her clothes. She has demonstrated that clearly throughout the press tour for her latest movie, The Idea of You, during which she has stepped out in two different takes on monochrome in under 24 hours and put a preppy spin on a classic Matrix silhouette. Now, as she rounds out the end of the promo tour, Hathaway is back to embracing her va-va-voom red-carpet style.

Teaming up with longtime stylist Erin Walsh, the actor selected a blazing red Versace number to attend the movie's New York City premiere on Monday evening. The strapless gown features long vertical panels of thick crimson fabric, shaped in such a way so as to sculpt the outline of her waist. Other edgy details include an angular pointed neckline, triangular cutouts underneath the bust, and a soaring thigh-high leg slit.

Hathaway paired the dress with matching red satin pumps. As a Bulgari ambassador, she also repped the luxury jeweler with an array of sparkling accessories, from emerald and diamond chandelier earrings viper-shaped rings set with pavé diamonds.

In The Idea of You, Hathaway plays 40-year-old mom Solène who begins a whirlwind romance with 24-year-old Hayes (Nicholas Galitzine), the ultra-famous frontman of a popular boyband that her teenage daughter is a fan of.

“I don’t think it’s necessary to be a mother to play a mother. I think that should be open to lots of different actors,” Hathaway reflected in an interview with People during the premiere. “But for me, in terms of understanding the depth of love that you can feel for this person and what you would be willing to do, I felt like it allowed the love for Hayes to be even bigger for Solène because she loves her daughter more than anything.”
