Ann Hood is back with a new novel, as well as an animated cover to get readers excited!

The Rhode Island and New York-based author will be releasing her latest work, The Stolen Child, on Tuesday, May 7 via W.W. Norton & Company and we have an exclusive look at the animated cover.

Described in a release as the "most ambitious novel to date" from the author of 11 books including The Book That Matters Most and The Knitting Circle, Hood's forthcoming novel follows three characters as they unearth long-buried secrets in the trenches of World War I, and, to their surprise, within their own family trees.

The novel, a blend of historical fiction, mystery, travel and romance, follows characters Enzo, Nick and Jenny. Enzo, a Naples-based artist who in 1935 decides to catch the tears of a famous opera singer with an empty paint bottle, "strives to honor people’s emotions" by launching a Museum of Tears, per the book's synopsis.
