Angel Reese WNBA draft: Social media reactions as Chicago Sky pick LSU women's basketball star

Angel Reese is joining former foe and South Carolina star Kamilla Cardoso in Chicago.

On Monday, the Sky selected the former LSU women's basketball standout at No. 7 overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Moments before the pick was announced, ESPN analysts mentioned Chicago had traded up from the eighth overall pick one day earlier to have a chance to pick Reese, which was ultimately the selection.

The 6-foot-3 Clark joins the 6-7 center Cardoso to form one of the best frontcourts in the WNBA. Dwyane Wade, a partial owner of the Sky, called Reese a "generational talent" on X (formerly known as Twitter) earlier in the day on Monday.

Reese, who transferred from Maryland before last season, helped the Tigers win their first NCAA championship during the 2022-23 season. In her senior season with the Tigers, she averaged 18.6 points, 13.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists. She finished with the second most double-doubles in LSU history, with 61, trailing only Sylvia Fowles.
