Trailing by 10 points late in the first half of their contest Monday against the Raiders, the Chiefs made a potentially game-changing play at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Chiefs’ Chris Jones got a strip-sack of Raiders quarterback Derek Carr as Kansas City was poised to take over at the Las Vegas 40.

But there was a flag thrown.

Jones was called for roughing the passer because his full body weight landed on Carr, even though it could be argued that Jones was trying to recover the fumble.

Here are three looks at the play.

Boos rained down on the game officials, ESPN broadcasters Joe Buck and Troy Aikman derided the call and usually mild-mannered Chiefs coach Andy Reid was incensed.

Given a second life, the Raiders got a field goal and took a 20-7 lead. The Chiefs answered with a 59-yard field goal just before the end of the quarter

Fans on social media were livid, and it wasn’t limited to Chiefs supporters.
