Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy reunite in new movie

Spider-Man's Andrew Garfield and The Crown's Claire Foy are set to reunite in a new movie from Paddington 2 writer Simon Farnaby.

The actors, who previously starred alongside each other in 2017 romantic drama Breathe, will lead the cast of the upcoming fantasy The Magic Faraway Tree.

Adapted from Enid Blyton's beloved children's novel, the film will follow married couple Polly (Foy) and Tim (Garfield) and their three children, who find themselves forced to relocate to the countryside.

"Soon after the family's arrival in the countryside, the children discover a magical tree and its extraordinary and eccentric residents including treasured characters Moonface, Silky, Dame Washalot and Saucepan Man," reads the official logline for the film.

"At the top of the tree, they are transported to spectacular and fantastical lands and, through the joys and challenges of their adventures, the family learn to reconnect and value each other for the first time in years."

The Midnight Beast's Ben Gregor will direct the film, with Pippa Harris, Nicolas Brown, Danny Perkins and Jane Hooks on board to produce. Executive producers include Simon Williams, Joe Simpson, Jonathan Bross and Tamara Birkemoe.

Filming is expected to begin in June, and more casting will be announced soon.

"To have two actors of the quality of Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy is a dream for any screenwriter. I have long admired their warmth, wit and lightness of touch," said Farnaby in a statement.

"Plus they have the power to imbue their characters' complexities that I don't have the power to write... I mean, even Enid Blyton might be impressed we got Spider-Man and the Queen."

Gregor added: "Andrew and Claire are exquisite performers and I feel so spoiled to have them for this film. They are cornerstones of our big hearted world and the perfect people to bring our lovely script to life."

The Magic Faraway Tree doesn't have a release date yet.
