Another season has come and gone with the Andale football team exerting its dominance.

Andale registered its 51st straight win on Saturday in a 28-0 victory over Holton at Gowans Stadium in Hutchinson, securing the program’s fourth straight Class 3A state championship just like it has the first three — in dominant fashion.

Andale has shut out its last three opponents in state title games and outscored Holton, Frontenac, Perry-Lecompton (twice) by a combined score of 136-7.

The program run by head coach Dylan Schmidt has the nation’s second-longest winning streak in high school football and has defeated opponents by an average of 45.8 points during its 51-game winning streak, which dates back to the first game of the 2019 season.

Andale tied Claflin for the fourth-longest winning streak in Kansas history, only trailing Smith Center (79), Pittsburg-St. Mary’s Colgan (66) and Conway Springs (62). Schmidt is 74-2 as head coach at Andale.

The four-peat seemed inevitable as early as the first quarter, when Andale converted a fourth-and-goal situation from 16 yards out. Riley Marx hauled in a pass from Wyatt Spexarth and barreled into the end zone for the opening score. Cody Parthemer followed with the two-point conversion run to put Andale up 8-0 with 4:50 remaining in the first quarter.

The second quarter was more ground-and-pound from Andale, as Spexarth and Parthemer both scored on one-yard touchdown runs to stake Andale to a 22-0 lead at halftime.

Andale’s defense pitched its fourth shutout performance of the playoffs, while Owen Eck scored another rushing touchdown in the final minute of the game to provide the final score line.
