Ana de Armas’s 2023 Oscars Dress Will End Up on All Your Friends’ Wedding Pinterest Boards
Ana de Armas is famous for many things: Knives Out, her pandemic PR walks with Ben Affleck, blocking the internet’s fave fan account Ana de Armas Updates and most recently her incredible performance in Blonde. So yep, she is at the 2023 Oscars and just hit the red carpet looking completely incredible in a silvery Louis Vuitton dress with major bridal vibes.
While Ana is pretty A-list at this point, she recently chatted to Vanity Fair about how the concept of being a “movie star” has changed since the advent of social media.
“I feel like the new generations don’t have that concept, because of social media. There is so much information out there and oversharing,” she explained. “The concept of a movie star is someone untouchable you only see onscreen. That mystery is gone. For the most part, we’ve done that to ourselves—nobody’s keeping anything from anyone anymore.”
To that end, she isn’t a fan of social media—which could explain why she blocked her own fan account?
“If it was up to me, I would delete Instagram right now, but I can’t. I understand that I’m not just an actress. I have other brands that I’m working with and I have other commitments,” she said. “It’s been good for Blonde and for films that I want to talk about. It’s tricky because you feel the pressure to share some personal insight, or something about your private life, to keep people interested in you. You have to find a balance somehow, which I find very difficult.”
