The couple met in an acting class in 2001 and welcomed their baby girl in 2010.

Adams, a six-time Oscar nominee, has spoken openly about raising her daughter, telling Entertainment Tonight in a 2017 interview that she hopes to be a source of inspiration for Aviana.

"I want [Aviana] to know that it is not just women that can soar, she can soar and she needs to find her own light. I know she is on that path," Adams, now 49, told the outlet. "That is something that I need to remind her. No light that shines on me creates a shadow for her to stand in."

The actress has also explained the meaning behind Aviana's name, revealing it was an homage to Adams' birthplace of Aviano, Italy.

"We had picked out a whole bunch of other names as well and we had thrown around Aviana, but I was into more traditional names and thought that we would go that direction," Adams shared during a visit to the Rachael Ray Show in 2010. "But, when she was born, we just kept calling her, 'Avi, Avi, Avi.' "

Adams spoke emotionally about all that her daughter has taught her in an interview withAustralia's The Project talk show in 2022, saying, "Something I've learned, I think I learned it the minute she was born, not to be overly personal, that I had this idea of who she was going to be and what her essence was."

"The journey since the moment she was born is finding out who she is, who she wants to be. Not even what I want for her, because of course I want the best for her, but she wants things for herself," Adams added.
