Actor Peter Crombie, known for his role as "Crazy" Joe Davola on Seinfeld, is dead at 71.

On Wednesday, Jan. 10, Crombie's ex-wife, Nadine Kijner announced the news via Instagram.

"It is with shock and extreme sadness that I share my Ex-husband died this morning," Kijner captioned a carousel of photos featuring the late actor. "Thank you for so many wonderful memories and being such a good man."

She continued, "Fly free into the Un-boundless source of light, Peter. May you be greeted with love by your parents, and Oliver 🐈‍⬛. So so many people loved you because you were a kind, giving, caring and creative Soul."

Multiple news outlets have confirmed Crombie's death. Fox News Digital reported that Crombie died due to a "fast intestinal illness."

"His passing was sudden to me, as we hadn't communicated since October 2023, when he seemed fine," Kijner told the outlet. "I am feeling the shock and heartbreak that he is gone."

In addition to appearing on five Season 4 episodes of Seinfeld, Crombie's acting credits included The Blog, My Dog Skip, Natural Born Killers, Rising Sun, Se7en and more.

Kijner described Crombie as a "gifted Yale-trained actor, a prolific writer and a true artist."

Outside the entertainment space, her ex-husband was "genuinely humble, preferring others to talk and take main stage," she told Fox News Digital. "He was always helpful, giving and funny. He was one [of] the kindest, soft-spoken, loving and caring people I have ever met. A gentle giant."

Seinfeld fans and fellow celebrities took to X to share tributes amid the news.

"Am heartbroken by the death of my good friend Peter Crombie," actor Lewis Black tweeted. "He was a gifted artist. Not only was he a wonderful actor but an immensely talented writer. More importantly he was as sweet as he was intelligent and I am a better person for knowing him."

Another X user wrote, "Rest In peace Peter Crombie. My goodness, how he brought Joe Davola to life. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. "
