'Among Us,' a popular game being adapted into an animated series, casted this Iowa actor

“Lord of the Rings” star and Iowa’s very own Elijah Wood is lending his voice to an animated series, "Among Us," based on a popular game.

The Cedar Rapids native joins “Fresh Off the Boat” star Randall Park, Yvette Nicole Brown of “Community” and Ashley Johnson of “The Last of Us" for CBS Studio's forthcoming show, Variety reported on March 15.

In “Among Us,” players act as crewmates to complete various tasks in different maps. But one of those crewmates is an imposter, known only to the player assigned the role. Their mission? Sabotage and kill every crewmember on board and avoid being suspected of it in an attempt to win. Though the game launched in 2018, it saw massive success in 2020 that even politicians played. The game can be played on the app of the same name on your smart phone, online on Nintendo Switch and through other devices.

The “Wilfred” star will voice Green, an unpaid intern that is “happy to be there” and tasked with “whatever they’re told,” according to Variety.
