All American: Homecoming Trailer Teases a Steamy Resolution to Simone’s Love Triangle (Exclusive)

Simone Hicks plans to “dominate this season” when All American: Homecoming returns — but fresh footage from the upcoming episodes has us thinking the season might dominate her.

In the exclusive Season 3 trailer embedded above, Simone’s renewed determination on the tennis court quickly gives way to a potential injury (“Something’s off with my swing,” she worries aloud) and a seemingly formidable opponent from another university. Plus, Simone’s personal life seems similarly complicated: Although we briefly see her in bed with (presumably) one of her two suitors from last season’s cliffhanger, the conversation she’s having via voiceover — “I did what you asked. You told me to make a choice!” — indicates all might not be well with Simone, Damon and Lando.

Earlier this spring, All American: Homecoming showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll urged fans not to assume the outcome of Simone’s love triangle, despite Martin Bobb-Semple (aka Lando) getting promoted to series regular for Season 3, while Peyton Alex Smith (aka Damon) was bumped down to recurring status.

“Martin’s promotion is a reflection of what a gift to the show he has been,” Carroll previously told TVLine. “What I will caution people against is thinking that it means the storyline is going in any particular way. Simone will continue to struggle with the messiness of her love life. That is a promise. Like with any college girl, that is going to continue to be at the heart of things, despite her best intentions.”

Elsewhere in the Season 3 trailer, JR endeavors to “reclaim [his] life” after a complicated sophomore season, Amara has some disappointing words for Marcus, and Keisha faces her own professional setbacks.

All American: Homecoming returns on Monday, July 8, at 9/8c on The CW, then moves to its regular 8 pm time slot beginning July 22. Its fate beyond Season 3 has yet to be determined, while All American and Walker are also awaiting renewals for Season 7 and Season 5, respectively.
