Is it time for Amazon Prime’s A League of Their Own to play ball yet? Feels like I’ve been hearing about this show—which is executive produced by Abbi Jacobson and Will Graham—for forever. Here’s everything we know about A League of Their Own, because apparently this show is happening...even though there isn’t a trailer or release date in sight.

“It took grit, fire, authenticity, wild imagination, and a crackling sense of humor for these players to achieve their dreams,” Graham and Jacobson said in an official press release. “We’re hoping to bring audiences a story with all of those qualities.”

Is A League of Their Own a remake of the movie?

Nope! Think of it as more of a spiritual spin-off or reimagining of the classic chick flick. The new series is about the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League and will feature the Rockford Peaches...but as far as we know, the characters are all new and not connected to Penny Marshall’s film. A League of Their Own star Rosie O’Donnell *does* play a bartender in a cameo though, so who knows what other Easter eggs will pop up?

Who *else* is in it?

Batter up...

  • Abbi Jacobson (Broad City): Carson Shaw, catcher

  • D’Arcy Carden (The Good Place): Greta, first base

  • Chanté Adams (Bad Hair): Max, pitcher

  • Gbemisola Ikumelo (Sex Education): Clance, TBD????

  • Kelly McCormack (Ginny & Georgia): Jess, shortstop

  • Roberta Colindrez (I Love Dick): Mita, pitcher

  • Priscilla Delgado (Julieta): Izzy

  • Melanie Field (Heathers): Jo, hitter

  • Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation): Casey “Dove” Porter, coach

As if that weren’t enough to get us excited, Patrick J. Adams, Nat Faxon, Kevin Dunn, Kate Berlant, Dale Dickey, Marquise Vilsón, Marinda Anderson, Don Fanelli, and Nancy Lenehan are also all in the cast. What is this, the Barbie movie? This cast is ginormous!

Is there a trailer?

Get your bat ready, because Amazon threw us a major curveball with the release of the new A League of Their Own trailer. The streamer surprised us all with a closer look at the Peachers and their journey in the brand new league. From tryouts to games, things are definitely getting intense. Watch it below:

When does A League of Their Own premiere?

The series premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in June 2022, so some fans already got the lucky chance to check out the show early. But for the rest of us who didn't make it out to the ballgame, you can check out the series on Amazon Prime starting on August 12. All eight episodes of the series will be available at launch, so you better get comfy.
