Amanda Kloots is sharing how she's discussing her late husband Nick Cordero with the couple's 3-year-old son, Elvis.

The Talk co-host appeared on iHeartRadio's The Important Things with Bobbi Brown podcast and explained that she's doing her best to "help Elvis understand at this young age where Dad is." The couple were married for almost three years when Cordero died from complications stemming from COVID-19 at age 41 in 2020.

"We just had to start this conversation," Kloots said to Brown. "I have said that Dada lives in heaven with Jesus, but he's all around us all the time, and we can always talk to him and listen to him sing, and he's watching over us all the time. That's what I've said so far."

While Elvis was only 10 months old when his father died, he's now reached an age where he's asking questions about his dad's whereabouts.

"Why dad doesn't live with us, what happened to dad, it's been really, really, really hard," added Kloots. "Even this year. He doesn't want me to leave the house, he doesn't want babysitters to come over, so finding that balance of being a working mom and trying to also maybe go on a date here and there. You feel guilty every time you leave the house and he's crying."

Despite his young age, Elvis has said multiple times that he remembers his father.

"He says that he does, which is crazy," the television personality recalled. "I don't know if that's because we watch so many videos together of Nick or because I talk about Nick so much, but he does say that... I'm going with it."

Kloots is still navigating her own grief journey, as well.

"I've been a little bit 'woe is me' lately," said Kloots, who recognized that could also be attributed to the fact that September was also the couple's anniversary, as well as Cordero's birthday. "I'm not going to lie, I've had a really hard September for some reason. I think with all those events that are important, and with Elvis going to school, it was a hard month."

Back in July, Kloots honored her late husband with a tribute on the second anniversary of his death. Featuring a photo montage set to Justin Bieber's song "Ghost," Kloots wrote directly to her husband.

"Two years ago today Elvis and I said goodbye to Nick. It was the hardest day of my life. There hasn't been a day I haven't missed him. Nick was a presence. His smile and laugh lit up a room. He loved everyone and was a great friend to anyone that knew him," Kloots captioned the photo series.

In October 2020, Kloots told People that Elvis and his father have many similarities.

"He is calm and cool and gets along with everybody. I think that's very much Nick," she said at the time. "We have this beautiful little boy that we created together. I love watching him grow, and I know Nick is watching him too."
