The creation of AM De Amarillo fulfills a lifelong dream to have their own magazine to service the Spanish community.

“This is about bringing the community together, and our magazine is about helping local businesses grow as we grow,” Fernandez said. "It is a family business, and we all work together to help each other out, and it means a lot to provide this service to a community that has no other Spanish language publications."

Fernandez spoke about the thought process in starting a magazine in Amarillo. He said his low advertising rates are important to many small businesses to be able to advertise to the public.

“Amarillo was a very comfortable city in which to publish Spanish media, with all the other papers not focusing as much on Spanish business,” Fernandez said. “This is the only event in Amarillo exclusive for Hispanic ladies to showcase their stories.”

Mendoza spoke about the importance of her event and what it means to have these women tell their stories.

“The event is meant to unite and bring together all women from Amarillo and the surrounding community, to make them feel empowered with each other and learn about each other’s stories,” Mendoza said. “It feels quite satisfying to see all of these women come together from all walks of life and generations to celebrate them. We hope these women learned a lot from each other and their stories and that they created connections for furthering their businesses.”
