Alyssa Milano Faces Intense Backlash Over GoFundMe for Son’s Baseball Team

Alyssa Milano

Alyssa Milano struck out with some internet users after creating a GoFundMe to benefit her son's baseball team.

On Thursday, Jan. 25, the 51-year-old Charmed alum shared a statement on social media asking fans to support her son's baseball team as the kids raise money for their upcoming trip to Cooperstown.

"My son’s baseball team is raising money for their Cooperstown trip. Any amount would be so greatly appreciate. You can read more about the team and make a donation here," she wrote via X (formerly Twitter) before adding a link to the fundraiser.

The request didn't go over as planned, though, with many calling out the actress for her "out-of-touch" post.

"I’m trying not to be salty but Alyssa Milano asking for donations for her son’s baseball team while I’m trying to refill all my life-saving meds before the end of this month due to tech layoffs is sending me," one X user shared.

"Alyssa Milano has absolutely lost her mind," another asserted. "How out-of-touch and tone deaf can one person possibly be?

"My son's team is also going to Cooperstown. Please donate to them so that they can beat Alyssa's kid's team. https://gofund.me/03db570e," someone else quipped.

"If only they knew someone with some money..." a fourth joked, sharing a screenshot of Milano's reported net worth which falls somewhere around $10 million.

One more, who apparently did their research, not only called out Milano, but her husband David Bugliari, who works for one of the biggest talent agencies in Hollywood. "Alyssa Milano is begging for donations for her son's baseball trip. She's reportedly worth $10M.... But, wait it gets better! Her husband is the co-head of Creative Artists Agency which manages dozens of the largest names in Hollywood, sports, & music."

"I may have spent everything I had and more paying for my medical nightmare. Ive got hopefully 1 more surgery to go and don’t know how I’ll fund it again. I should start a gofundme. But then what about this multimillionaires kid going on a hit ball with stick trip," another X user shared. "Moral Dilemma."

"When did #GoFundMe become a way for millionaire celebrities to fund their kids baseball trips?" a different viral tweet questioned.

"Multimillionaire actress asks for Donations so her son's baseball team can take a $10k trip to Cooperstown," another wrote in disbelief. "Bring. Back. Shame."

And then there were the memes...

In response to the backlash, Milano took to X to clear up a few misconceptions.

"I’m getting media inquiries about whether I have financially contributed to my son’s baseball team," she wrote. "I’ve paid for uniforms for the entire team and coaches, thrown bday parties and sponsor any kid who can’t afford monthly dues."

Milano added: "The kids also do fundraising themselves—car washes, movie nights, and many other fun things! Thank you to all who have contributed to the gofundme! You’ve made things easier for these boys and their families."

Despite the pushback, Milano's GoFundMe has raised over $7,000 as of writing.
