Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Elizabeth Warren star in new ad for NYC comptroller candidate Brad Lander

Councilman Brad Lander is enjoying support from friends in high places in this year’s New York City comptroller race.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) endorse the Brooklyn Democrat in a new campaign ad, with Public Advocate Jumaane Williams chiming in as well.

“Only one candidate for comptroller, Brad Lander, knows that to deliver transformative change, you have to work for and with the people,” AOC says in the television spot, set to go public on Monday.

Lander, whose campaign is spending a cool $3.5 million on the ad blitz, is the first candidate the superstar congresswoman has endorsed in this year’s local elections.

Warren weighs in, saying: “Brad knows everyone deserves a fighting chance to make it in New York.”

Nadler notes Lander has promised to take businesses to task for underpaying women and people of color — a reference to the candidate’s proposed “wall of shame” for bad employers.

The Park Slope councilman entered the race as the most prominent progressive, but Council Speaker Corey Johnson’s decision to join the crowded contest complicated Lander’s plans.
