An Alexandria man died Sunday night after being hit by a car while trying to cross a road, according to police.

An Alexandria man died Sunday night after being hit by a car while trying to cross a road, according to police.

Gary Joseph, 64, died at a hospital after the crash around 9:40 p.m. in the 2900 block of North Bolton Avenue, reads a news release.

Joseph is at least the third pedestrian to have been hit and killed by a vehicle in the Central Louisiana area in the past 10 days.

The department stated Joseph was trying to cross the northbound lanes at the time he was hit. A toxicology test was performed on the vehicle's driver, and results are pending.

An investigation is continuing.
