Alexandra Daddario is back!

The actress, 38, returned to the Met Gala for the second year in a row and brought her understated glamour to the Met steps — but she added a twist this year!

This year's Met Gala, officially themed “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” has a dress code of “The Garden of Time,” and Daddario is right on track with her Dior Haute Couture gown. The actress wore a delicate lace gown with butterflies layered over undergarments, making her look a bit like she belonged in nature. She amped it up, though, with bold eye makeup and a snake headpiece wrapped in her hair.

This may only be the White Lotus alum's second Met Gala, but the fashionable actress has been amping up her glam for years. And while she always looks like a million bucks in her classic and often retro-inspired style, it comes that way naturally to her. She told PEOPLE in July 2022 that she doesn't like to put a lot of time into figuring out what she's going to wear.

"I don't like to overthink things, I like to just go with my instincts. I don't want to obsess over clothes too much. I like to just put them on," she said while discussing how she ended up picking out her Danielle Frankel wedding dress for her big day in 2022 when she married Andrew Form.

In fact, all the many red carpets she's done over the years helped her prepare for wedding dress shopping — though it was nearly all for nought. She told PEOPLE that it only took trying on about three dresses before she found the one.

Whether or not it took her more than three tries to land on her dress for this year's Met Gala remains to be seen, but what she settled on is nothing short of the perfect addition to the actress' style résumé.

The Met Gala is held annually on the first Monday of May and is one of the most highly anticipated sartorial scenes of the year.

Notably described as the Academy Awards' fashion equivalent, the style extravaganza is a fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute, formally titled The Anna Wintour Costume Center — named after Vogue's editor-in-chief, who has been a chair member of the gala since 1995.

The exclusive, invite-only affair draws in the eager eyes of style seekers who can't wait to catch a glimpse of the star-studded red carpet looks that revolve around a carefully crafted theme. "Celebrities, designers, and change-makers are challenged to create costumes that serve as both a fashion statement and a tribute to the concept," per Vogue.
