Alex Morgan and the United States women’s national team have advanced to the semifinals of the Summer Olympics. The Americans took down the Netherlands in the quarterfinals of the tournament on penalty kicks.

Monday morning, Morgan and Co. will take on Canada for a spot in the gold medal game.

The USWNT has dominated recent international competition. Back in 2019, the United States won the World Cup.

That was a big year for Morgan and her teammates. Morgan and a couple of other U.S. soccer stars posed for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.

Morgan was in the magazine with Megan Rapinoe, Crystal Dunn and Abby Dahlkemper. The 2019 issue was not Morgan’s first, though.

She posed for the magazine for a third time, revealing why she chose to pursue it.

“It was so awesome. The last two shoots, I was the only soccer player and that was totally fine. [I was] really happy to represent my team and to represent the soccer community, but just to be able to do it with such an empowering group of women that I share such a big life with was just even more amazing,” she told the magazine.

Morgan, 31, has developed a huge following both on and off the field.

Morgan and her teammates will face Canada at 4 a.m. E.T. on Monday morning.

The 2021 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue, which features another notable athlete in Naomi Osaka, hit newsstands last month.
