Akeem Davis-Gaither, LB set to become free agent, returns to Cincinnati, per report
The Cincinnati Bengals are bringing back linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither on a one-year deal worth about $3 million, according to a report Monday night from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
Davis-Gaither was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent.
Davis-Gaither played in 13 games last season, his fourth with the Bengals. He started one.
Davis-Gaither had an interception in the Bengals' 24-17 playoff win against the Baltimore Ravens in January 2023. He has played in 54 regular-season games and three postseason games since his rookie season.
The Bengals selected Davis-Gaither in the fourth round with the 107th overall pick of the 2020 NFL draft. He was named Sun Belt Conference defensive player of the year at Appalachian State.
More from The Enquirer's Charlie Goldsmith via Twitter/X:
Late last year, the Bengals had a really effective run defense package with Akeem Davis-Gaither in a 4-3 look. Whenever he’s healthy, Lou Anarumo is finding ways to use him. He’s also a special teams staple. Another under the radar radar player the Bengals value https://t.co/GBsmz07B9w
