Air fryers sold by Walmart, Target and Amazon have been recalled as fire hazards

Air fryers should cook food, not cook your kitchen or house. That’s why Newair recalled about 11,750 Magic Chef Air Fryers.

The problem, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission: “The air fryer can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards.”

Newair hasn’t received a report yet of this happening.

The recall covers model Nos. MCAF56DB and MCAF56DW, black and white air fryers, respectively. They were sold online from July 2018 through September 2020 by Newair, Amazon, Walmart, Target and Wayfair.

If you have one of these air fryers, take a picture of the rating label on the bottom of the product and send it to Newair. The company will send instructions on disabling the air fryer and a Newair.com credit of $50 or the amount on the receipt of purchase (whichever is higher) as a refund.
