Ahsoka star Rosario Dawson has landed her next lead role in Dark Days & the Dawn, an upcoming film from director Talia Lugacy.

According to Variety, the story will take place over the course of one night as couple Maria (Dawson) and Samuel (Sam Adegoke), who have been together for 466 years, reach their breaking point.

The film reunites Dawson, Adegoke and Lugacy, who all collaborated on the latter's 2021 war drama This Is Not a War Story. Dawson and Lugacy also worked together on the 2005 short film Little Black Dress and 2007 thriller Descent.

Dark Days & the Dawn was co-written by Lugacy and Kamau Ware, who specifically wrote the characters with Dawson and Adegoke in mind.

"Talia and I have been collaborators and friends for nearly two decades at this point. Dark Days & the Dawn in many ways has been a long time coming," Dawson said in a statement.

"It’s a meditation on this fractured moment, that is anchored by performance and visual style. I can’t wait to get started."

"When Talia told me she wanted to work hand-in-hand developing this film together, I didn’t hesitate for even a second," Adegoke added. "Our mutual trust is unwavering and I believe this is just a second step in a long road of collaboration together."

Meanwhile, Lugacy said the film "is a fever dream of performance, visual language and hallucinatory atmosphere with a beating heart never more relevant than right now".

While she prepares to begin filming Dark Days & the Dawn in Savannah, Georgia later this year, fans will be able to watch Dawson reprise her role as Ahsoka Tano in Disney+ spin-off series Ahsoka this August.

The actress will be joined by Mary Elizabeth Winstead as revolutionary leader Hera Syndulla and Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren.

Dark Days & the Dawn does not have a release date yet. Ahsoka premieres on Disney+ this August.
