‘The Age of Anxiety’ choreographer Liam Scarlett dies at 35

British choreographer Liam Scarlett, whose work was tainted by allegations of sexual misconduct, has died. He was 35.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic, untimely death of our beloved Liam,” the late dancer’s family said Saturday in a statement, The Associated Press reported.

Scarlett’s family requested the public “respect our privacy to enable us to grieve our loss.”

No cause of death was given.

The former artist-in-residence at the Royal Ballet was responsible for works like “The Age of Anxiety,” “Asphodel Meadows,” and “Hansel and Gretel.”

In 2012, he created a “Jubilee Pas de Deux” to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s 60 years as monarch.

The Royal Opera House tweeted Saturday that it was “deeply saddened” to hear Scarlett had died.

“Our thoughts are with his friends and family at this very sad time.”

The Royal Ballet suspended Scarlett — who had worked with the New York City Ballet, the Norwegian National Ballet and more — in 2019 following accusations of sexual misconduct lodged by former students, which resulted in an investigation.

“There were no matters to pursue,” the company said early last year of the probe’s findings, adding that Scarlet would no longer be an artist-in-residence.

The Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen’s performances of the choreographer’s “Frankenstein,” previously slated for 2022, were canceled this week. The decision followed similar allegations by people Scarlett had worked with at the company, according to the Times of London.
