Affordable private chef in Myrtle Beach will come to your home to cook for you and guests

Gringo Ninja private chef service makes the luxury experience affordable for people in the Myrtle Beach area.

Owner Ricky Lang said he started cooking for clients in their homes in January of 2021 and was just doing it for fun until he saw it was a viable business. He then hired his team.

“We’re a private chef service that strictly does things in people’s homes. We’re literally the only company of our kind in this whole area,” Lang said. “There are private chefs in the area, but it’s only one person, so they get pretty overwhelmed pretty quickly.”

Lang said that his business got its name because his Ecuadorian in-laws lovingly call him a “gringo” and because he loves making sushi.

“Part of the job is being able to talk and work with a client. What they pay for is access to their chef. We entertain them, talk to them, and explain what we’re doing,” said James Levy, one of the Gringo Ninja chefs.

While Gringo Ninja primarily works in the Myrtle Beach area, they do have a chef in Charlotte, NC, and the team is willing to travel.

“We will travel as far as our client is willing to pay for,” Levy said.

Levy said his favorite thing to make is sushi. He said that most food heightens appetites based off of smell, but that sushi is most appealing through how beautiful it looks.

Chef J-Ann Mendoza said she loves working for Gringo Ninja because she loves to cook and she also loves not having to sit at a desk for eight hours a day. “I get to work for four hours or so and spend the rest of my day with my kids,” she said.

Mendoza said that her love for the kitchen does not stay at work. She said she loves being in the kitchen at home as well.

Chef Alyson McKellar-Clardy said her favorite thing to cook is also sushi. “I’ve been rolling sushi for over 20 years,” she said.

McKellar-Clardy said that being with clients on their special occasions is part of why she loves the job.
