Gumbo has been hanging onto Shrimp since 2017, which is so impressive. Some of us don't even have cellphones that are that old.
A photo of the two were recently shared by the My Canine Life Instagram page and shows the pair hitting the major milestone.
"Just a buddy and his friend," the caption on the post reads. "Seeing #gumbowithshrimp lately makes me so emotional."
"It’s been crazy to look back at the photos and watch as Gumbo's face gets whiter and Shrimp gets a little more scraggly. A true testament to time!" the post states.
Commenters were cheering for the two. "Gumbo is the most perfect creature to grace the planet," wrote one person. "I understand this 100 percent," someone else joked. "I adore Gumbo and Shrimp," a third person praised. "A friendship for the ages!" one person gushed.
Gumbo Was a Service Dog
Despite keeping his best buddy close, the Golden Retriever hasn't merely been spending all his time with his favorite stuffed animal. In fact, Gumbo was working as a service dog for his owner for a long time. But she recently announced that she was "retiring" Gumbo after his many years of service.

The dog owner wrote about her pup slowing down after a 2023 trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
"I’ll probably be retiring this good boy as a service dog at the end of the year," she wrote in her post. "He turns 9 this year and is slowing down a lot. Doing multiple days in the theme parks proved to be a lot for him and he needed a lot more rest than he normally would. I’m so proud of him for still being able to work despite the long hot days," she added.
She has since stated that Gumbo is "retired" on his Instagram page. But we just know it was a hard call for the pet owner to make. Dogs getting older can really be hard to handle. Thankfully, it seems like there's a lot left to come for Gumbo and his best buddy, Shrimp.
