Caring for a Senior Dog
Having a senior dog is a gift. It really is. As your dog gets older you realize how special it is to have them with you in the golden years. But caring for an older dog does take some special care.
As your dog gets older, it'll become even more important to make sure they stay healthy. Senior dogs need vaccines every three years and will need blood and urine tests at least once a year too. At home, you'll want to brush your dog's fur frequently to prevent matting and clip their nails so that it's easier for them to walk.
Getting around will get harder and harder for your dog. So you'll want to take that into account too. That means keeping furniture in the same spots around your home, so your animal won't bump into things. Adding more rugs on hardwood floors can also make it easier for them to walk and will be softer on their feet.
We are so lucky to have dogs in our lives. And while seniors do need a little more work, they're so, so worth it.
