Looking to adopt a dog or cat? The City of Fort Worth is waiving adoption fees for the month of August.

It is part of the national Clear the Shelters campaign underwritten by NBCUniversal Local, a division of NBCUniversal. The program began as a partnership with Fort Worth Animal Care & Control in 2015. More than 700,000 animals have found new homes because of the campaign.

“The summer months are notoriously the time when we have the most intakes,” said Dr. Tim Morton, assistant director of Code Compliance, Fort Worth Animal Care & Control. “But this year has been a huge challenge for us with a higher than normal number of animals entering the shelter. We’re confident our community will come out and support this great adoption event.”

Adoptions will go on all month at these locations:

  • North Animal Campus, 351 Hillshire Dr.

  • Chuck and Brenda Silcox Animal Care and Adoption Center, 4900 Martin St.

  • Hulen PetSmart Adoption Center, 4800 S.W. Loop 820

  • Alliance PetSmart Adoption Center, 2901 Texas Sage Trail

All animals available for adoption are spayed or neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. Check in with the animal control website daily for animals available for adoption.
